1. Create Your Pivot Table
- Select your data.
- Go to Insert → PivotTable.
- Place the category field (e.g., Item) in the Rows area.
- Place the same field in the Values area (should default to Count of Item).
2. Select the Pivot Table Summary Data
Highlight only the summarized rows (excluding the Grand Total and headers).
Example:
Apples 3
Bananas 2
Oranges 1
3. Insert the Pie Chart
- Go to Insert → Pie Chart → Choose a style (e.g., 2D Pie).

Step-by-Step:
- Click your pie chart to select it.
- Click the "+" Chart Elements button on the chart's upper-right.
- Check Data Labels → Click the arrow next to it.
- Choose More Options (or choose Inside End / Center).
In the "Format Data Labels" Panel:
- Check:
- ✅ Category Name (to show the legend title)
- ✅ Value or Percentage (optional)
- Uncheck:
- ❌ Legend (optional if labels are now inside)
- Label Position:
